Timex Ironman 50-Lap Sleek Watch - Mid-Size Reviews
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful A great sport watch!, By Kelly Niemann "KLVNH" (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews This review is from: Timex Ironman 50-Lap Sleek Watch - Mid-Size (Misc.) I originally bought this watch just so I could count laps when running the track at my YMCA or laps in the pool. I knew the watch could do much more than that, but I really thought it would be too confusing without pulling out the directions every time I wanted to do something. It is actually very easy to use, and it does things I never thought I'd use, but now do weekly. The CHRONO feature easily counts laps and times each lap (awesome when training 500+ meters on a 25 meter pool, otherwise I'd totally lose count). the TIMER is exactly that, but you can set hours, seconds, etc., and even set it to repeat at the end of the timer (when doing repetitions). The INTTMR (intermittent timer) is great for setting intervals on a run, when doing circut training, or anything that requires two or more different alternating times. Then there's 3 different alarms. The Indiglo makes it very easy to see at night, and the band is nice and small for my small wrists. I bought... Got it because I have a small wrist and it would be a lightweight alternative to the expedition. Quickly, after falling in the tub once, water collected under the face; getting it out meant opening it up and that was tedious. I also chose it because it had lap memory which worked well, as did all of the other functions of the time piece. The band began to detach in a few spots after about 8 months of wearing it even though my wrist was a normal size for the watch. eventually, after it got water trapped the second time, it died because of the lack of proper sealing of the clear plastic cover in the middle that protects the time piece. Ordered a Timex 100 lap Ironman (giant, bulky watch) from Amazon and am still waiting for it. I am really attracted to the minimalist design of the sleek watch bands, yet the connection between the bands and the face is quite faulty and disappointing. Although Timex makes excellent time pieces, they seek to make you a returning customer by designing the... Read more Band will break eventually, By RLW (Orlando, FL) - See all my reviews This review is from: Timex Ironman 50-Lap Sleek Watch - Mid-Size (Misc.) I bought this watch about two years ago due due to it having day, date and military time, as well as the nonabsorbent rubbery band. I had read the reviews about the bands breaking but I gave it a try because I didn't need to to last me years. I didn't expect it to last this long but the band finally broke today. The negative of choosing the off white color is that it gets discolored and stains easily. The loop that holds the strap down broke about 6 months ago and I had that replaced at a Sears watch counter easily enough. I have seen responses from Timex on reviews on their website that they will replace the broken band for $10 if you contact them. All in all I think this watch was worth the purchase, but if I decide to replace it with the same style, I will pick a different band color so it doesn't get so dirty. |
